How To Help Someone In A
MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS!

How To Help Someone In A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS | Joseph James Book

INTRODUCTION

I wrote this book to help those who want to be there for others. Perhaps you’ve lost someone to suicide and/or drug overdose. Maybe you’ve seen it from a distance and just want to help but don’t know where to start. It could even be that you’ve been through some traumatic situations personally and want to learn more to help yourself and others.

If you are reading this book and at any time discover that you may need outside help but aren’t for sure, please go to Chapter 7 and see what you might need to do in this moment.

If you feel that you are in danger from self-harm and need someone to talk to, please call *988. There are people available to talk to you immediately.
If your life is in danger or you have a medical emergency, please call *911.

Your life matters and no matter what you’re going through right now, we need you here on this earth. Don’t make a permanent decision in a temporary storm. Let the storm pass over first, talk to someone if necessary, to get through it in order to be able to make a better decision to help you go on with your life. Life changes every day. Some days are full of rain and some are full of sunshine, both mentally and in the world around us. Keep going! Storms are temporary and eventually go away or fade.

Whatever your reason for reading this book, thank you. Together we can break the Stigma of Mental Health and get more people talking about it. This helps make it easier to have discussions without people feeling shame or repercussions if they choose to share some delicate information.

I have written this book from a Christian perspective and from personal experience with concussions, brain injuries, trauma, a dangerous 8mm cerebral aneurysm, 3 tonic clonic seizures, fractured vertebrae and more. I have been around many medical and mental health professionals and have also had to personally interact with them in my personal medical and mental journeys. I ask that you keep an open mind as you read, take what you want from it, and perhaps put the things you question on a back burner and see what happens in your journey. We must remain teachable on this journey of life so that we can live our lives to the fullest.

Thank you for your interest in helping make our world a better place.
